# How to Refer

> [!WARNING]
>
> **The Megapot app no longer issues referral links or accepts new signups.** Share & Win, invite links, share actions, and referral bonus tickets have been removed. Protocol referral fees for existing referrals continue on-chain and remain claimable. The app shuts down on December 1, 2026. [Read Announcement](https://megapot.io/blog/thank-you-for-playing).

***

## What is Referring?

Referrers earn protocol fees from players they already referred. Two income streams:

* **Purchase fees** — 8% of ticket sales from your referrals
* **Win share** — 8% when your referrals claim prizes
* **Second-order** — 2% of your referrals' referral sales and prizes

The points program is [paused](https://docs.megapot.io/learn/points-program.md). Referring no longer earns points.

## Existing referral earnings

You cannot generate a new referral link in the app, and new signups are closed.

If you already have referrals:

1. Protocol fees continue to accrue on-chain when those referrals buy tickets or claim prizes
2. Claim accumulated referral fees from your [winnings page](https://megapot.io/winnings) until the app shuts down on December 1, 2026

## How You Earn

| Source | You Earn |
| - | - |
| Referral buys tickets | 8% of purchase |
| Referral wins a prize | 8% of winnings |
| Referral's referral buys tickets | 2% of purchase |
| Referral's referral wins a prize | 2% of winnings |

Fees accumulate automatically and can be claimed anytime.
